Bristol Has A Great Deal On Offer For Lovers Of Fine Food

Bristol is the busiest city in the south west of the UK that makes the ideal base for a fun break for people of all ages and interests. Bristols location on the Severn Estuary with its historic dock and floating harbour, give it a strong maritime feel.

Over the past few years the ever expanding quantity of excellent quality eateries have given the city it's reputation for fantastic food.

There is no shortage of things to do in Bristol and the surrounding areas to keep you busy during your stay. There are excellent shopping centres, museums, theatres, a planetarium and even a zoo!

Exotic spices and food items from overseas entered Bristol through its busy docks for several centuries and this exotic influence is still evident today in the wide variety of dishes you will find locally.

When you start to sample excellent cuisine in the restaurants, inns and cafes you will soon know why this area is such a haven for food lovers. The huge selection of culinary styles and flavours that are on offer mean you will be entirely spoilt for choice. Whatever you are looking for, be it Indonesian, Peruvian, Thai or West Indian, you will find it here.

There is some fantastic food to be found at St Nicholas Market, which is the oldest market in the city, making this a great spot for combining shopping and a bite to eat. Here you are able to sample produce of many kinds, including local specialities and more exotic ones. If you haven't tasted a cream tea before then you will find one here. A cream tea is made up of, oven baked scones, fresh clotted cream, strawberry jam, and a pot of hot tea. Although this tradition is not great for the waistline, this is an essential experience.

Other local specialties to keep an eye out for include regionally produced cheeses like Exmoor blue and some of the best cheddar you will ever taste. This region is a fantastic agricultural area, where some of the best quality meat, dairy products and vegetables in the UK are produced.

You will find several reputable farms in this area solely dedicated to the production of cider. By having the opportunity to buy direct from producers in the local farm shops and markets, you are able to not only get your hands on the most excellent quality produce, but learn facts about the way it is produced.

Accomodation and food in Bristol is inexpensive and in terms of its quality will not fail to impress you. Pay a visit to this great city and see for yourself what it has to offer.
